Nina D
Nina was born in Austria to Russian parents who
were taken by the Germans to work as laborers. After the liberation of
Austria they sought asylum and ended up in Venezuela.
In 1958 they immigrated to the United States.
Today Nina works as Spanish/English interpreter for the California court
system.
She grew up with two languages, with ''only Russian'' spoken at home.
Her passion for the Latin culture mixed with the intensity and grandeur
of the Russian culture have resulted in a unique ''Nina'' style.
In 1980 while stationed in Germany with husband George who was serving
his country in the US Air Force, Nina had an up close and personal
encounter with egg, transforming it into a work of art in the form of ''Pesanka''.
She was irrevocably hooked.
Since then she has created at least one thousand eggs with the
ever-present help from her husband George who is in charge of cutting,
painting and placement on stands. How fortunate to have a husband who
shares her passion in Egg Art.
She lives in La Canada with 2 grown children and 3 cats.
Everywhere I go, anything I look at has to have a rather practical
application to eggs.
''I would rather spend money on rhinestones than clothes.''
Now, that is ''passion''!
